We, the congregation of Aldersgate United Methodist
Church, cherish our covenant with children as affirmed in our
Baptismal vow. "With God's help we will proclaim the good news and
live according to the example of Christ. We will surround the children
with a community of love and forgiveness that they may grow in service
to others. We will pray for them, that they may be true disciples who
walk in the way that leads to life." As Methodists we accept our
Christian responsibility to "do all in our power to increase our
children's faith, confirm their hope, and perfect them in love" - Baptismal Covenant II, The United Methodist Hymnal.
We want to create an environment where all
children feel valued and welcome. Jesus said,
"Let the children come
to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the
kingdom of heaven belongs." (Matthew 19:14) We create a positive,
learning experience in our Christian education ministry when all
children, youth, parents, and teachers know what is expected of
them.
