Aldersgate Music Ministry Opportunities

To God Alone Be the Glory!

What it's all about ...

We spend hours and lots of care on providing quality worship and music for Sunday and other events at Aldersgate for one reason:

to give God glory!

We give God glory by:

Chancel Choir  -  Wednesday, 7:30 - 9:00 pm

Rehearsing as one, but serving as two separate choirs on Sunday mornings (8:25 and 10:55 services), Aldersgate’s Chancel Choir enjoys sharing a variety of music styles, from gospel to classics, and spirituals to contemporary.  The Chancel Choir also adds special music and cantatas for the Lent-Easter and Advent-Christmas seasons. No audition or experience is necessary to join in if you love to praise God through song, you are welcome!

Praise Team - Tuesday, 6:15 - 7:30 pm

This group of singers and praise band instrumentalists serves our 9:45 am Contemporary Worship Service. Their goal is to lead the congregation in expressing their praise and worship using fresh and meaningful contemporary Christian music. New singers and more instrumentalists are needed;  we are always looking for more talent to help us serve our best for the Lord. Singers need to be able to create harmonies, often as the only singer on a part; and to be comfortable holding a microphone while leading worship in an engaging way. Instruments such as  keyboard, drums, bass and guitar (lead and rhythm) are basic to the Praise Team. Other instruments such as flute, trumpet, mandolin, violin, etc. would be welcome enhancements.

Children's Choirs - Wednesday, 6:15 - 7:30 pm (September - May)

On Wednesday nights, a joyful noise takes over the Family Life Center as our three graded children's choirs worship, rehearse and do mission projects together. From 6:15 - 6:30 is WOW time (Wonders of Worship). This is a time when all ages (ages 3-12) join together for upbeat praise and prayers. Choir Rehearsal takes place from 6:30-7:00. The three wonderful, age-appropriate singing groups are Preschool (age3-4), Early Elementary (K- grade 2) and Older Elementary (grades 3-5). Each choir sings for worship regularly. The Helpful Club occupies the 7:00-7:30 time slot. Our two younger choirs get involved with missions through Helpful Club projects. The Older  Elementary Choir continues to rehearse their music. We plan to offer children's musicals at Christmas and in the Spring. Our oldest children also are planning to go on a Mini-Tour this year.

Youth Choir - Sunday, 4:00 - 5:00 pm

Our youth are giving voice to their own passion for worship with a singing group which leads in morning worship several times each month. Youth Praise hopes to enhance UTH Sunday evening worship experiences as well, and is forming a Youth Praise Band. We're also looking for more ways to reach out beyond the church walls, and may take our music ministry on the road this summer with a youth praise tour! Everyone grades 6-12 are encouraged to join us!

Sacred Dancers - Sunday, 3:00 - 4:00 pm

Aldersgate is so fortunate to be blessed by the gracefulness of a liturgical dance team, led by Kathy Reeves. Girls, if you love dance, please consider joining our ministry!

Handbell Choirs - Monday, 7:00 pm -

Handbell choirs are a striking example of the magnificence God brings from unity and teamwork in the Body of Christ! Beautiful, complex and inspiring music results from each person simply ringing their two bells at just the right time, in just the right way! If you know the basics of music reading and enjoy a challenge for a good cause, then why not give handbells a try?

Other Opportunities

There are many "behind the scenes" technical and support needs for Aldersgate's worship and music ministry. Let us know if you can help, either on a regular basis or for a special event, with sound, lighting, video, PowerPoint, set/props, costumes, in-sanctuary preparation (altar guild), or in the music library or office.

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests please contact our
Minister of
Music, Rev. Nan de Andrade.
