Our Lay Leadership Teams
Laity, or non-clergy leaders of the church, are called to be disciples who fulfill the Great Commission through acts of service that heal and liberate a broken world. Although there is only one ministry in Christ, there are various gifts and evidences of God's grace in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:4-16). The ministry of clergy and laity is complementary. No minister is subordinate to another. Christ calls and sends all United Methodists to live and work together in mutual interdependence. Certified Lay Ministers
As Methodists, we believe that all Christians are called to ministry. Laity who feel called to a specific ministry role within the local church may choose to become a certified lay minister.
Becoming a CLM means joining a community of other laity who are making a similar commitment to live out their call in a way that is both concrete (i.e. through assignment by the district superintendent) and long-term. It also means committing to a process that includes training, support, supervision, and accountability. Learn more about Certified Lay Ministers here.
