AUMC 70th - Did You Know?
During the COVID pandemic of 2020 when all elementary schools were closed - Aldersgate Weekday Ministries provided remote school classrooms for over 60 elementary students - all trying to remember their passwords!
We continued to offer preschool to over 100 students during this time as well as providing employment to 20+ staff members.
We also provided space for playing in the gym and outside with the group which was even more important during this time.
Exploring Spiritual Practices, Summer Sessions
Do you want to foster a more balanced spiritual life? Join us Wednesdays, July 15 through August 19 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. in room 206 of the Family Life Center as we experiment with prayer, fasting, simplicity, service, worship and celebration.
Summer is a busy time, so feel free to come to one class or come to all six. No preparation needed. You are always welcome.
Instructors by week: Cindy Copolo, Anabela Mendes, Regina Whitaker, John Howe, David Anderson and Carolyn Bass.
R Wave Respite

Respite - 10:00 a.m. on the 2nd Floor of the FLC in the Youth/Scout/R Wave Room!
Fun, Games, Socialization, and a hot lunch included
Respite meets every Monday 10am-2pm.
The R Wave Support Group meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at 10:30 a.m. in room 207 of the FLC. Their next meeting is on Monday, July 20th.
R Wave continues their amazing work every week and is excited to share some new updates:
R Wave will be celebrating their 20th successful meeting in July!
R Wave currently has 14 participants, 30+ volunteers in the respite, 8 volunteers in the kitchen. New volunteers are always welcome!
Our first ‘Friends Cafe’ was held on Saturday, June 27 and was very successful. The Friends Cafe had 18 attendees people, including four new couples, two from Mt. Sylvan UMC, and one from Jewish for Good.

- Duke HomeCare and Hospice will be presenting a seminar about non-profit vs for profit hospice care, what services Duke Hospice provides, eligibility for hospice, Medicare benefits of hospice, grief counseling. Open to everyone. Go to RWaveRespite.org, click on the red button to register. Won’t be active until after July 20th.
- We have reached out to 18 local churches about R Wave being a community ministry.

AUMC Soccer
Thursday night soccer is back in the FLC gym – want to join us?? It’s open to anyone 13 and older, and you don’t have to be a soccer pro just to have fun and play.

Aldersgate Sunday School
Aldersgate UMC offers three adult sunday school classes on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. in the Family Life Center.

- LIFT
The Outbackers Sunday school class is starting a study based on the book “The Walk” by Rev. Adam Hamilton. Walking is often used in scripture as a way of speaking about our life with God.
This study explores five essential practices used to positively impact one’s spiritual health. Come join a Sunday School class all are welcome!

Community Pickleball
Join us in the FLC Gym on Tuesday, July 21st from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for community pickleball. Play games or volley back-and-forth with friends. Grab a paddle and come join us for a fun evening!
AUMC Photos
Since the first of the year, an additional 300 new entries have been added to the Aldersgate online photo album. Keto Support Group
With the help of Dr. Eric Westman from Duke, we coordinated A keto support group for both members and nonmembers of the church. This group meets the first Monday of every month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the FLC Gym. Come join this great group!
