Volunteer Opportunities

Coaches

  • We strive to have a coaching team of 2-3 people for each team. We have 10 teams all together.
  • Kindergarten - 1st grade division has 4 teams
  • 2nd - 3rd grade division has 4 teams
  • 4th - 5th grade division has 2 teams 
  • Coaches are equipped with resources to help lead practices on Tuesday from 6-7pm throughout our season and games at 9am on Saturdays. These resources are used so that a volunteer does not need to have any prior soccer experience. As long as they are willing to give their time, energy, and enthusiasm to work with children. John Howe is our head coach and can answer more questions as to what being a part of a coaching team entails. 


Hospitality 

  • Part of our vision with Upward is to create a safe environment for all of our families that join us for Upward. That includes being hospitable to all our guests that are on our field during the season. 
  • A hospitality volunteer would be asked to set up and take down water coolers to have on a cart under the pavilion and on the bench on the field. Wheel out/and in trash cans to the pavilion. As well as welcome families and give additional direction to restrooms, playgrounds, etc as necessary. 


Set up/take down 

  • Volunteers would be appreciated to help set up/take down our soccer equipment for practices and games.  Set up takes place about 45 min before practice. 
  • We divide our larger field into 5 smaller fields. Set up entails helping set up the 10 goals (2 for each field) and putting our soccer balls, and cones for the coaches when they arrive. 
  • Take down is often easier as a lot of the families help as practice/games come to a close. 


Field maintenance - lining the field, checking for ants

  • Additional help would also be required when preparing the fields at the beginning of each season, and periodically throughout. Things like lining the fields with our line equipment, and occasionally checking/treating for ant hills.
